One for the Gods

Cabin in the Woods

R, 2012

I didn't have very high expectations of this movie, I must admit, but it totally surprised me. Right after watching, I thought, "Wow!" and listened to the music that played during the credits. It's a more sinister Hunger Games. It's horrible right up until the end, when it starts to make sense and ends up... well, no spoilers here. If you like gory horror movies with a little bit of mythology thrown in, this is a five-star movie that you'll love.

This movie is not for children, thus the R rating.

Dangerous Beauty

R,1998

I loved this movie. Great for romantics, though one has to keep an open mind concerning societal values. Love condemns and conquers. A story of tragedy and triumph. I recommend for anyone over the age of eighteen, or otherwise old enough to appreciate a movie with adult content.

The Girl Who Played With Fire

R, 2010

Unlike the opinion I have of the first movie and book, I like the second book better than I like the second movie. The movie is well done, but I definitely think people who haven't read the book will be lost. I highly recommend reading the book, but the movie is good too.

Contact

PG, 1997

I haven't read the book, but the movie was really easy to follow and quite interesting. Really worth the time and money, I feel. I also think it backs up some theories and ideas I have for my "Aliens" book, which I haven't started writing yet but have growing inside my head.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

R, 2010

I read the books, and they were great, though the first was my least favorite. The movie is totally better than the book, though I'm not sure if a person watching the movie without the book would follow along all that well... But totally worth the time and money!
